Trans Mental Health Care – Day 1

In 2012, the APA released the DSM 5 which reclassified Gender Identity Disorder as Gender Dysphoria, but what does this mean for those of gender diversity? Many individuals of gender diversity face adversity within the mental health care system, but it’s a challenge many of are forced to deal with head on, and often alone. This course focuses on creating a healthy environment for individuals of  gender diversity while trying to remove and end the long term stigmas of gatekeeping, red tape and bias that often surround the mental health community.  Day 1 of this 2 day course focuses on raising awareness of barriers and creating individualized care focused on helping individuals through the stumbling blocks of their transition, rather than creating hurdles for those of gender diversity.
